Day 146 - May moon

I've been amazed at the photos of the May moon by Janell & Karen. So, here's my contribution.
Ol' Mr. Moon looks different in my backyard.

Day 143 - lost in the supermarket

I'm all lost in the supermarket
I can no longer shop happily
I came here for that special offer
A guaranteed personality.

It's no longer the flower department at Safeway, now it's the poetry-in-bloom section.
And what decent supermarket doesn't have a Starbucks or Peet's inside? We are so special.

Day 138 - beautiful sunset

Grabbed the camera on the way to the store tonight.
Glad I did.
Completely unedited except for a slight crop.

Day 134 - red poppy

This photo was not taken today but yesterday. It was in the same garden as the columbine.
I know it looks like I amped up the color saturation but I didn't touch it. The light was amazing!

Day 132 - ride your bike

Started the day with a 25 mile ride on the American River Parkway trail. Sacramento has been seized with bike fever! Saw some of the Amgen teams out for a warm up ride before the start of the Tour of California tomorrow.
[Photo taken with John's cell phone.]

Day 131 - yosemite wildlife

Some of the wildlife we saw in Yosemite. The first two were giving those looks because Sherry was tempting them with horrible human food (think flaming hot cheetos). Needless to say, not the bear.

El Capitan (John)

Half Dome from Sentinel Bridge (Sherry)
We had a fantastic time riding our bikes all around Yosemite Valley. Such a gorgeous day!

that is also a gateway to Yosemite National Park.

Day 127 - winter's last stand...again!!!

When I posted with that title a while ago, I was pretty sure that was it for the year.In spite of all the spring flowers we have posted, what passes for winter here just seems to want to hang on this year. This is a pretty late rain/ice/snow/hail/whatever storm for these parts. Hope the tomato plants that went in last weekend make it.

Day 125 - detour

On my bike ride today, I encountered a part of the trail that has been closed. A detour was in place that took riders through a nice neighborhood near the American River. I did a double take when I saw this chicken and her chicks on the front lawn of a home. Even though we live in a rural area with all kinds of animals as an active part of the neighborhood, I am still surprised by the sight of free-range chickens out on the lawn. A rooster was hanging out at the house next door.

Day 120 - Gotcha...sort of

I've been trying to catch a hummingbird in flight for a while now.
This is the best effort so far.
